Hello and Happy Sunday Fashion Honey's!
Tonight is the Grammy's and I am so excited to see the hottest outfits to hit the red carpet from my favorite musicians! I can't wait to see Rhianna perform. We all know that the Grammy's are about music, but historically, the Grammy's red carpet has highlighted the different yet quirky fashion choices of our favorite artists. Recently, CBS sent out a release to performs and our fave red carpet dwellers to "cover up". Tonight, I want to hone in on my favorite Grammy outfits.
To be clear- Jennifer Lopez, Faith Hill and Carrie Underwood were quite a bore to me this year. I am over the plain black gowns with a high slit, Angelina did it and its time to move on; I am also over the sequins on black gowns- sooo over it. Please feel free to dispute.
Now that I got that out of the way, lets move on to my favorites!!!
1. Kelly Rowland- Best Dress
I love Kelly's strategicaly placed diamond cut outs. This Georges Chakra gown was very sexy, she has the body to carry it off, thanks to Jeanette Jenkins her celebrity personal trainer. I was glad that Kelly didn't cover up too much. I wished that she had a litle more drama in her hair. Albeit, I would say that this is Kelly's best and I can't wait to see more from her.
2. Rhianna- Best Color and Best Gown Runner-Up
Rhianna looked perfectly statuesque in her red custom Azzedine Alaia gown. I loved the cris-cross sheer neckline and criss cross mesh around her waist line. So beautiful.I also loved her red lip and red stilleto nails. But what was up with the Beyonce like hair? I wished that she stayed jet-black and short- It wouldv'e taken her look to another level. I loved and lived for her train!! Just gorgeous and the design of the back of her dress is just glam!
3. Beyonce - Best Modern
I am living for her colorblocked (black and white) Osman pantsuit. I love how she put her hair in a sleek ponytail and kept her accessories to a minimum. Beyonce's post baby bod looks stellar and she is pretty much defying gravity tonight! Work it Bey!
4. Katy Perry- Best Embellishments
I was so glad to see Katy more natural and toned down (hair and makeup-wise). I would've wished for more blush or contouring on her face. I loved that she was inspired by Priscilla Presley . She had her rack on display (side-eye) in a sultry mint green key-hole cleavage baring gown with gold and silver flower embellishments along her neckline. Very soft, vintage and pretty.
5. Taylor Swift- Best Halter Neckline
Taylor Swift seems like she has been listening to me, I need Carrie Underwood to take a hint as well. I am so glad that Taylor is keeping the sequins and beading to a minimum and looking into the actuall structure and design of the gown to keep her in the "fashion big leagues" Taylor stunned in Jay Mendel; I loved how she looked like a sexy Greek Goddess. The white aphrodite inspired gown featured a plunging neckline with a sequin T strap that went down her chest line. She was quite the vision in that gown! Just gorge!
6. Bonnie McKee -Best Structure
Bonnie worked her futuristic mermaid gown. I love love love the structure of the bodice. I hated her hair. I will leave that piece alone.
Well I am going to get back to watching the Grammy's. I can't wait to see more of the on-stage costumes. If insipired I will expand the post to include those as well.
